British air carrier EasyJet PLC is eyeing some assets of collapsed travel company Thomas Cook Group PLC, Reuters reported Oct. 4, citing EasyJet's CEO, Johan Lundgren, who spoke to German newspaper Die Welt.
Lundgren reportedly said, "Of course, like all airlines and tour operators, we will look at what might be of interest to us from the Thomas Cook network. But there is no decision yet."
The executive also told the newspaper that his company was not interested in acquiring Thomas Cook's German unit Condor Flugdienst GmbH, according to the report. Condor is reportedly open to having a strategic or private equity investor as its new owner.
Days after Thomas Cook collapsed into liquidation, EasyJet announced that it will offer job opportunities to affected employees of the travel services company. According to the release, the company has around 200 cabin crew and 20 co-pilot positions to fill.
