Atlas Mara shareholders vote to re-elect Diamond as chairman

Nearly 95% of Atlas Mara Ltd.'s shareholders voted to re-elect co-founder Bob Diamond as chairman at the Africa-focused investment company's Aug. 29 annual general meeting.

Shareholders also voted to re-elect Michael Wilkerson, Richard Boucher and Hisham Ezz Al-Arab as nonexecutive directors.

Before the AGM, shareholder advisory firm Glass Lewis recommended that investors vote against Diamond's re-election, saying that as co-founder he was not independent, while ISS recommended that shareholders abstain. Both firms urged investors to vote against the re-election of Wilkerson, Boucher and Al-Arab.

Shareholders also voted in favor of allowing directors to issue equity.
