JD.com Inc. announced Sept. 30 that it rolled out a new storage service at its warehouses.
Under the program, customers can store their belongings at the company's logistics sites and track the storage process via the JD Express Delivery mini-program on the WeChat platform.
The company launched the initiative to address the market demand for storage solutions in China as rents in first- and second-tier cities continue to rise.
"This user-friendly and reliable personal storage solution is a clear example of how our strategy to open up our logistics network to parties beyond JD is playing out," Bing Fu, head of strategy and innovation at JD Logistics, said in a statement.
