Ontario Power Generation unplugs 900-MW nuke for maintenance

Ontario PowerGeneration Inc. unplugged Darlington nuclear unit 4 to begin maintenance andinspection of the 900-MW facility, a planned outage representing C$122 millionin investment, according to an April 12 news release.

The outage takes place ahead of the C$12.8 billionrefurbishment program which was announced in January; work on the first of the fourDarlington units is expected to begin in October.

The Darlington plant has a capacity of 3,512-MW and therefurbished facility is expected to last 30 years.
