Philips acquires Carestream's healthcare technology business in 26 countries

Koninklijke Philips NV completed its acquisition of Carestream Health Inc.'s healthcare information systems business in 26 of the 38 countries where it operates.

The Carestream unit provides cloud-based imaging to hospitals, radiology services providers, imaging centers and medical clinics.

Amsterdam-based Philips expects to complete the acquisition of the healthcare information systems business from Carestream in the remainder of the countries in the course of 2019.

Carestream's cloud-based imaging business will become part of Philips' enterprise diagnostic informatics business within its diagnosis and treatment segment.

Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream will retain its medical imaging, dental and industrial films, non-destructive testing, and precision coating businesses after the transaction.
