Gold Road, Gold Fields' Gruyere JV achieves commercial production

Gold Road Resources Ltd. and Gold Fields Ltd.'s equally owned Gruyere gold mine in Western Australia achieved commercial production at the end of September, slightly ahead of guidance.

The joint venture expects 2019 gold production at the upper end of the previous guidance of 75,000 to 100,000 ounces at all-in sustaining costs of between A$1,050 per ounce and A$1,150/oz.

Gruyere's 2019 production guidance was cut in June from between 100,000 and 120,000 ounces following delays to full ramp-up.

The ball mill was commissioned in early August, and the six- to seven-month ramp-up to full nameplate capacity is continuing, according to a joint Oct. 9 release.

Average annual production from Gruyere is forecast at about 300,000 ounces at all-in sustaining costs of about A$1,025/oz over a 12-year life.
