Sonim unveils mobile devices for FirstNet users

Sonim Technologies Inc. introduced XP8 and XP5s mobile devices for first responders on the First Responder Network Authority, the communications platform dedicated to public safety.

The ultra-rugged smartphones, which are powered by Google Inc.'s Android operating system, will include the SCOUT Enterprise Xperience and will become available to FirstNet users later this month, the company said March 1.

Among other features, the XP8 and XP5s has built-in Band 14 access, which is a special spectrum licensed by the First Responder Network Authority that will be used to further build out FirstNet.
