Liberty Latin America to expand broadband footprint in Chile

Liberty Latin America Ltd. unveiled plans to roll out or upgrade broadband services in about 200,000 homes in Chile in 2019, or 50,000 more homes than previously expected.

The target brings the company's total estimated residential broadband additions or upgrades in Latin America to at least 450,000 in 2019.

The telecom company will not increase its capital expenditure for the network expansion, with its engineering teams reducing new build and upgrade costs per home across the region, CFO Chris Noyes said.

The expansion plans came amid an expected growth in Latin America's multichannel and broadband industry, due to demand for convergent services and economic recovery in larger markets.

Liberty Latin America is doing business in Chile through cable operator VTR.
