Amazon.com Inc. is looking to expand its footprint in Israel as it launched a Hebrew-language website that aims to encourage and recruit local businesses to sell their products on Amazon.com, Reuters reported Aug. 21.
The website has interviews with CEOs of Israeli companies that are already selling on Amazon, outlining how the online platform helped their businesses and allowed them to enter new markets, according to the report.
The e-commerce giant is also expected to open a fulfillment center in Israel, the report said, citing local media.
In May, the e-commerce giant invited Israeli retailers to join its local delivery program that allows companies to use their existing Amazon.com seller account to send orders straight to customers in Israel, using local inventory. Amazon reportedly declined to disclose the number of retailers who had registered.
It also refused to say when it will fully launch its business in the country but mentioned that it would be "soon," Reuters reported.
