Aperam's Q1 net income slightly lower YOY

Steelmaker Aperam SA's net income in the first quarter dipped to €85 million, or 83 cents per share, from €88 million, or €1.03 per share, a year ago.

Sales in the three months increased to €1.22 billion from €1.20 billion in the prior-year quarter on the back of higher steel shipments, according to a May 9 release.

EBITDA fell to €141 million from €160 million, and operating income dropped to €106 million from €124 million.

The company's steel shipments rose to 517,000 tonnes in the quarter from 486,000 tonnes a year ago.

In the second quarter, Aperam expects its EBITDA to slightly increase over the first quarter, it said.
