Moody's on Dec. 14 affirmed Alpha Bank Romania SA's long-term bank deposit ratings at Ba3 and revised its outlook to positive from stable.
Its baseline credit assessment was affirmed at "b2," reflecting the bank's overall strong and resilient financial fundamentals, in comparison with the weaker stand-alone profile of its Greek parent, Alpha Bank AE.
The positive outlook is in line with that of its parent, and reflects the agency's expectation that the Romanian unit's baseline credit assessment will likely be upgraded if that of its parent is upgraded.
In addition, Moody's affirmed Alpha Bank Romania's short-term bank deposit rating at NP and its adjusted baseline credit assessment at "b2." Also affirmed were the lender's long- and short-term counterparty risk ratings of Ba2/NP and long- and short-term counterparty risk assessments of Ba2(cr)/NP(cr).
