The seasonally adjusted value of retail trade in Italy rose 0.7% in August from July, according to provisional data from the country's National Institute of Statistics.
In volume terms, retail trade was also up 0.7%.
Retail trade value rose 0.5% in the three months to August compared with the prior three-month period.
On a seasonally unadjusted annual basis, the value of retail trade ticked up 2.2% and quantity sold gained 1.4%.
The retail trade index for large-scale distribution was up 2.4% year over year, while small-scale distribution increased 1.3%. Online sales grew 8.6%.
