Karen DeSalvo is resigning from the board of Humana Inc., effective Oct. 15. She resigned to avoid the appearance of any conflict of interest related to her plan to assume an executive role.


CNC Catastrophe and National Claims named George Kattermann senior vice president of claims operations.

Kattermann served as senior vice president and oversaw catastrophe operations, commercial/large loss and adjuster resource management at BrightClaim Inc.


American International Group Inc. appointed Steve Gibbs Asia-Pacific head of claims for general insurance, effective Jan. 13, 2020, Insurance Business Asia reported.

Gibbs served as head of claims practices for international property and casualty at Axa XL.

Property and casualty

Axa XL named Peter Welton head of energy for the U.K.

He will develop the U.K. energy book, design insurance solutions for energy clients and lead a team of underwriters in London. He replaces Luis Prato, who was appointed chief underwriting officer for U.K. legal entities in September.

Welton served as senior class underwriter for downstream energy and power at Axa XL, a division of Axa SA.


RKH Specialty Ltd. appointed Jason Humphreys and Alex Robinson to its specialist aviation team in London.

Humphreys will join in February 2020 and Robinson in March 2020 after they have discharged their obligations at Marsh Ltd.

RKH Specialty is part of Hyperion Insurance Group Ltd.


ArgoGlobal SE named Noel Praveen senior underwriter of casualty and professional lines for Dubai, Haggie Partners reported.

Praveen served as senior manager for liability and financial lines at Aon Global India.


Willis Towers Watson PLC appointed Joseph Hurley director of corporate risk and broking, Business Insurance reported.

He will be based in San Francisco and will lead the company's platform for the marketplace, sharing and gig economy, according to the report. He served as senior manager of risk solutions at Lyft Inc.


Price Forbes & Partners Ltd. named Paul Voller managing director and David Fairbank executive director of its newly launched U.S. healthcare practice.

Keeley Baker, Sirkka-Maija Kariluoma-Boom, Kerrie McGilly and Geoff Dixon were also added to the team.

Voller served as chairman of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group Ltd.'s Healthcare Risk Partners, while Fairbank served as senior partner at Healthcare Risk Partners and Lloyd & Partners.


Insurance broker Virtus added Mike Kesner, Eric Banduch, Joey Eichmann and Angela Aiello to its private equity practice in Chicago, the Insurance Journal reported.

Virtus is an affiliate of Agman Partners.


IAT Insurance Group Inc. named John Passaro senior vice president of its new management liability business unit.

The business unit will develop a suite of management liability products for directors and officers, including protection against intellectual property theft, misrepresentation and workplace law compliance.

Passaro served as president for the New York/New Jersey downstate region and vice president for enterprise distribution.


Woodruff-Sawyer & Co. Inc. appointed Ronan Eggleston senior vice president for management liability, Jeff Friesen senior vice president for property and casualty, and Dan Schaller senior vice president for its property and casualty practice.

Cindy Jarrett, Megan Douglas and Sandra Suter were also appointed as client managers to the insurance broker's office in Portland, Ore.


Great American Insurance Group named Matthew Brown and Joseph Szary divisional directors within its fidelity/crime division.

Brown will focus on underwriting mercantile and financial institutions, while Szary will focus on crime, kidnap and ransom, and fine art claims.

Great American Insurance Group's members are subsidiaries of American Financial Group Inc.


Willis Re Inc. hired Anthony Jones and Brian Cole as it seeks to expand its U.S. professional liability capabilities, The Insurance Insider reported.

Jones served as managing director of the cyber and professional liability practice, while Cole was managing director of professional liability and specialty casualty lines at Lockton Re's office in New York.
