General Motors Co. has laid off about 350 of its workers in Thailand, Reuters reported Aug. 30, citing a representative from the Labor Relations Group for Eastern Thailand.
The carmaker reportedly did not confirm the number of jobs cut but said that the move was "necessary to right-size" its operations. It also said it is taking measures to support employees whose roles are impacted.
General Motors added that it will continue to build vehicles in the country, the report said. It has two plants in Thailand's Rayong province that produces vehicles for both domestic and export markets under the Chevrolet and Holden brands, according to the news wire.
