Bank of Spain approves new WiZink CEO

The Bank of Spain has approved the appointment of WiZink Bank SA's new CEO, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Sola, Europapress reported Sept. 19.

The bank had named Rodríguez Sola CEO on July 31, subject to approval by the central bank. He comes from Boston Consulting Group but was chief executive of Lloyds Banking Group PLC's digital division and chief executive for retail and commercial banking at Banco Santander SA.

The online bank is owned by U.S. investment firm Värde Partners Inc., which acquired the 49% of the entity it did not own in 2018 from failed bank Banco Popular Español SA, now owned by Santander.
