Sampo board to debate extra dividend

Sampo Oyj's board will resolve the question of an extra dividend in light of tougher capital requirements at its annual general meeting.

The board was, at the meeting, to propose a higher dividend of €2.85 per share for 2018, up from €2.60 per share for 2017. It also has proposed an extra dividend of up to €500 million, or 90 cents per share.

The company in a November 2018 earnings release noted that its capital requirements will increase in 2019 because of the increasing Pillar I capital requirement for Nordea Bank Abp after re-domiciliation to Finland.

The extra dividend's authorization would be valid until the next annual general meeting.
