Humana to pay $2.5M to resolve pay discrimination claims

Humana Inc. agreed to pay $2.5 million in back wages and interest to settle allegations of pay discrimination against 753 women at the health insurance company's headquarters in Louisville, Ky.

The health insurance company entered into a settlement agreement with the U.S. Labor Department's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. The Department of Labor said that between 2011 and 2012 Humana paid women in consulting, project manager and manager positions less than men with similar positions.

Without admitting liability, the company agreed to make pay adjustments, according to the labor department.
