Volkswagen AG-owned Porsche AG on June 12 launched a new mobile app that locates charging stations for electric cars, not limited to Porsche models.
The Porsche Charging Service platform, along with Porsche's navigating system, allows drivers to search for suitable charging stations. The platform also handles the payment process for charging using centrally stored data.
The app, which is available on iOS and Android devices, also shows information about the location and availability of charging stations, in addition to the cost of charging.
At the charging station, the user needs to identify himself either using a QR code via the app or with a Porsche ID card, which the user receives free of charge after registering for the service.
Porsche said the service is available in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland, and will expand to other countries from the end of 2018.
