Groupe Casino's Monoprix to acquire French online retailer Sarenza

French retailer Groupe Casino said Feb. 19 that its subsidiary Monoprix began talks to acquire online shoe retailer Sarenza as part of the unit's digitization and omnichannel strategy.

The move follows the group's recent partnerships, including with Ocado Group plc on Nov. 28, 2017.

In 2017, Groupe Casino generated consolidated net sales of €38 billion, while Sarenza recorded €250 million in sales in its last fiscal year.

The completion of the transaction is subject to the consultation of Monoprix's and Sarenza's employees representative bodies and the approval of the French Competition Authority.
