Duke Energy Carolinas seeking permit for 25-MW NC solar project

Duke Energy Carolinas LLC submitted an application to the North Carolina Utilities Commission requesting a certificate of public convenience and necessity for its proposed 25-MW Gaston County Solar Project.

The solar farm in Gaston County, N.C., will be interconnected to a 44-kV transmission line owned by the Duke Energy Corp. subsidiary, according to the application.

The project is expected to reach commercial operation in December 2020.
