Johnson & Johnson unit to buy private maker of Zarbee's Naturals products

Johnson & Johnson has agreed to acquire Draper, Utah-based Zarbee's Inc., which manufactures cough syrups, vitamins, supplements and immune support products for children and adults.

The company's unit, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., will acquire the full line of Zarbee's Naturals products for children and adults.

Zarbee's markets its products, including a honey-based cough syrup, as alternatives to traditional over-the-counter medicines.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed in a July 30 news release. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2018.

Johnson & Johnson said the closing of the transaction is subject to clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act and other customary closing conditions.
