Two infrastructure funds managed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners K/S have acquired a 374-MW Spanish onshore wind portfolio and sold an interest in a Texas wind project.
Copenhagen Infrastructure III will finance the acquisition of the Spanish wind portfolio with 100% equity for more than €350 million. The construction of first projects totaling 113 MW has started, according to a separate Sept. 11 press release.
The portfolio has been developed in cooperation with local renewables developer Forestalia and the balance of the plant will be executed by partners Copsa, Elecnor and GES. General Electric Co. subsidiary GE Renewable Energy will provide 99 wind turbines for the project as well as operational and maintenance services.
In the U.S., Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners II P/S sold 100% of its equity interest in the 196-MW BearKat onshore wind facility to the Terna Energy SA subsidiary Terna DEN.
Terna DEN is also the company to which Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners II provided mezzanine financing for the Fluvanna and Gopher Creek wind farms in Scurry County, Texas, according to a separate Sept. 10 release. As part of that transaction, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners II said it will finance $63 million of the purchase price by entering into a mezzanine loan with Terna DEN.
