To accommodate growing natural gas volumes in the Haynesville Shale, Enterprise Products Partners LP plans to extend and boost capacity on its Acadian natural gas pipeline system to serve the LNG market on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
As part of the project, the midstream giant will build a roughly 80-mile pipeline lateral near Cheneyville, La., on its Acadian Haynesville Extension pipeline to third-party interconnects near Gillis, La., according to a Sept. 19 news release. The interconnects include a number of pipelines linked to LNG export terminals in southern Louisiana and southeastern Texas. Enterprise said the Gillis lateral would have a capacity of about 1 Bcf/d.
Enterprise is also planning to add horsepower at its Mansfield compressor station in DeSoto Parish, La., allowing it to increase capacity on the Acadian Haynesville Extension. The Legacy Acadian and Haynesville Extension lines are part of the Acadian pipeline system, which is composed of about 1,300 miles of gas lines.
The project, underpinned by long-term customer contracts, is slated to enter service in mid-2021.
"Once this project is completed, our Acadian system will be able to deliver a total of 2.1 Bcf/d of Haynesville production into the LNG market, South Louisiana industrial complex and other interconnects that serve attractive southeastern U.S. markets," A. James Teague, CEO and director of Enterprise's general partner, said in the release. The Acadian system's current capacity is 1.8 Bcf/d.
Houston-based Enterprise is engaged in gathering, processing and other midstream energy services for natural gas, crude oil and refined products.
