Blackstone, KKR execs pull out of Saudi investment conference

Blackstone Group LP founder and CEO Stephen Schwarzman and KKR & Co. co-President and co-COO Joseph Bae decided against attending the 2018 Future Investment Initiative conference in Saudi Arabia, according to separate reports from Axios and Reuters.

Citing two unidentified sources, Reuters said Bae and David Petraeus, chairman of the KKR Global Institute, have withdrawn from the conference scheduled for Oct. 23-25.

They are the latest U.S. corporate executives to cancel their attendance at the event after Jamal Khashoggi, a U.S. resident and columnist for The Washington Post who is a vocal critic of Riyadh's policies, disappeared after visiting the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon and BlackRock Inc. CEO Larry Fink earlier withdrew from the event, according to Axios.
