Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Oct. 31 amounted to $1.33 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.29 per share.
EPS increased 27.7% year over year from $1.04.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $31.9 million, a gain of 28.1% from $24.9 million in the first quarter ended Nov. 1, 2013.
The normalized profit margin rose to 4.7% from 3.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 5.3% year over year to $683.4 million from $649.1 million, and total operating expenses increased on an annual basis to $628.0 million from $604.9 million.
Reported net income grew 25.0% on an annual basis to $34.1 million, or $1.42 per share, from $27.3 million, or $1.14 per share.
