Chuokeizai-Sha Holdings Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, was a loss of ¥1.17 per share, compared with a loss of ¥5.53 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥4.4 million, compared with a loss of ¥20.6 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin rose to negative 0.6% from negative 3.1% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 17.6% on an annual basis to ¥770.0 million from ¥655.0 million, and total operating expenses climbed 12.2% year over year to ¥782.0 million from ¥697.0 million.
Reported net income totaled a loss of ¥8.0 million, or a loss of ¥2.14 per share, compared to a loss of ¥25.0 million, or a loss of ¥6.70 per share, in the prior-year period.
As of Feb. 9, US$1 was equivalent to ¥114.79.
