The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Sept. 6 urged people to stop using e-cigarette products until it can complete its ongoing investigation into pulmonary illnesses associated with the use of e-cigarette products.
According to the CDC, at least two fatalities related to lung illness possibly linked to the use of e-cigarettes have been reported.
U.S. Department of Health & Human Services recently said 215 cases of respiratory illness possibly related to the use of e-cigarettes were reported from 25 states, as of Aug. 27.
Lung illnesses are likely linked to chemical exposure as there is no evidence of infectious diseases. The CDC also noted that many patients reportedly used products containing cannabis product THC or nicotine recently. However, the CDC said no single product is linked to all cases of lung disease.
