Great Eastern Energy expands into Conn. service areas

Great Eastern Energy announced Jan. 9 that it has expanded service into the territories of Connecticut Light and Power Co. and United Illuminating Co. in Connecticut for electric commodities.

Connecticut Light and Power is a subsidiary of Eversource Energy and does business as Eversource Energy.

Commercial and residential customers in the Eversource or United Illuminating service areas will be able to use Great Eastern Energy energy product and electricity service offerings, according to a news release.

Great Eastern Energy now serves customers in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. The company previously expanded into New York's National Grid plc, National Fuel Gas Co., New York State Electric & Gas Corp., Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. and Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. service areas.

United Illuminating is a subsidiary of Iberdrola SA.
