Statkraft acquires UK wind developer Airvolution Clean Energy

Norway's Statkraft AS has acquired U.K. onshore wind developer Airvolution Clean Energy Ltd. for undisclosed terms.

The two companies have been working together for nearly two years, with Airvolution identifying and bringing forward project opportunities in Scotland on behalf of Statkraft since October 2017. "Bringing the team in-house is a natural progression of that partnership, significantly strengthening our ability to deliver against our ambitious targets for the UK," Statkraft UK Ltd. Managing Director David Flood said in an Aug. 21 statement.

Statkraft aims to deploy 600 MW of onshore wind and solar generation in the U.K. The company bought Element Power's Irish and U.K. wind development businesses from Hudson Clean Energy Partners AIV LP in late 2018.
