Retail Properties of America Inc.'s proposal to give stockholders the ability to amend the company's bylaws via a majority vote was approved.

At the company's May 25 annual shareholder meeting, 155,912,685 votes were in favor of the proposed bylaws amendment; 10,586,991 were against it; and 1,223,903 abstained, according to a filing.

The bylaws amendment went into effect May 25.
