Cargills posts fiscal Q2 profit

Cargills (Ceylon) PLC said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 amounted to 77.0 million rupees.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin was 0.5%.

Total revenue came to 16.05 billion rupees, and total operating expenses came to 15.69 billion rupees.

Reported net income totaled a loss of 53.2 million rupees, or a loss of 24 cents per share.

As of Nov. 17, US$1 was equivalent to 131 Sri Lankan rupees.
