Apple Inc. is developing a chip that will handle artificial-intelligence related tasks on devices, Bloomberg News reported May 26, citing a source familiar with the details.
The chip, internally called Apple Neural Engine, will reportedly be used by the devices to handle tasks such as facial recognition and speech recognition.
Apple is expected to highlight some of its AI-related advancements at its annual developer's conference in June.
A report in April indicated that the company was working to introduce its own battery-saving chips for the iPhone as early as 2019.
