Kairos Minerals Ltd. said May 23 that it more than doubled the total mineral resource estimate at its Mount York project in Western Australia, to an indicated and inferred resource of 643,000 ounces of gold contained in 14.4 million tonnes grading 1.3 g/t of gold.
A previous resource estimate in 2016 comprised of an indicated and inferred resource of 258,000 ounces contained in 5.7 million tonnes grading 1.42 g/t of gold.
The current indicated and inferred resource takes into account the Mount York, Iron Stirrup and Old Faithful deposits.
An updated indicated and inferred resource at the Mount York deposit, composed of the combined Main Hill, Breccia Hill and Gossan Hill deposits, reflected a 290% increase from the 2016 update to 486,000 ounces of gold contained in 11.3 million tonnes grading 1.34 g/t of gold.
The Iron Stirrup deposit, on the other hand, hosts indicated and inferred resources of 67,000 ounces of gold contained in 1.1 million tonnes grading 1.94 g/t of gold, while the Old Faithful deposit contains 90,000 ounces of gold in 2.1 million resource tonnes grading 1.37 g/t of gold.
A new drilling program has begun at Mount York to test the potential for further extensions to the mineralized zone and undertake additional infill drilling.
