Galliard Homes Ltd teamed up with housing association Catalyst to build 604 homes and public facilities on the site of the former Wimbledon dog track in London at a gross development value of £350 million, Property Week reported, citing Stephen Conway, executive chairman of the U.K. developer.
The 500,000-square-foot site, which was granted planning consent in December 2017, will also include a new football stadium for AFC Wimbledon. Over half of the space will be handed over to the football club, and the developer will contribute £14 million in construction costs for the club's return to Plough Lane, according to the March 1 report.
The development also includes an 18,000-square-foot leisure facility and 4,000 square feet of retail space, with the homes bordering the 11,000-seat stadium. As part of the deal, Catalyst will buy 177 planned shared-ownership homes, as well as 117 of the private sale units, upon the project's completion. Before partnering with Catalyst, Galliard Homes had planned 60 shared-ownership homes.
The stadium is slated for completion in autumn 2019, while the residential units are expected to complete in early 2021, the report added.
