Amedisys to acquire Tennessee-based personal care provider

Amedisys Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire all the assets of East Tennessee Personal Care Service, a Knoxville, Tenn.-based personal care provider.

Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close May 1, were not disclosed. "This transaction is exciting because it enlarges our personal care footprint outside of Massachusetts," Amedisys President and CEO Paul Kusserow said in a statement.

"Once this transaction is completed, collectively, the Amedisys Personal Care Division will have 2,700 aides providing care to 15,600 clients annually at home," Mike Trigilio, president of Amedisys Personal Care division, added.
