Top banking moves: Carroll Community Bank names COO

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly news summary of executive management and board chair-level changes in the bank and thrift industry.

Aug. 7

Warren, Pa.-based Northwest Bancshares Inc. appointed Mark Reitzes as executive vice president and head of commercial banking for its unit Northwest Bank.

Reitzes has 36 years of experience in the commercial and retail banking industry.


JPMorgan Chase & Co. appointed Jonathan Ernst as an executive director of its energy group.

Ernst, who most recently was senior vice president at Jefferies LLC's energy investment banking team, will join JPMorgan's corporate client banking and specialized industries business within the commercial banking division.


Sykesville, Md.-based Carroll Bancorp Inc. unit Carroll Community Bank named Barry Luciani executive vice president and COO.

Luciani previously was a branch executive with Howard Bancorp Inc. unit Howard Bank.

Aug. 2

Wells Fargo & Co. made a number of appointments to key roles, including David Kowach as head of community banking.

Kowach will be responsible for regional banking, distribution strategies, customer and branch experience, and regional services.

Jim Hays, who will be based in St. Louis, will be president and head of Wells Fargo Advisors, replacing Kowach in this role. Hays most recently was head of the newly created private wealth financial advisers group.

Also, the company named Andy Rowe enterprise customer excellence executive, and Elli Dai small-business and personal lending group executive.

Rowe headed customer segments and consumer strategy at the company for two years, while Dai most recently was a human resources senior leader for Wells Fargo's payments, virtual solutions and innovation business.
