President Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate Katharine MacGregor as the deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior, according to an Oct. 1 news release from the department.
U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt applauded Trump's announcement. "I look forward to her prompt confirmation, so she can continue her service to the American people," Bernhardt said in the release.
MacGregor's current role at the Interior Department is deputy chief of staff and acting deputy secretary. She has served in other positions at the department since joining the Trump administration in January 2017.
Before coming to the Interior Department, MacGregor worked on Capitol Hill for 10 years, serving as a congressional staffer for two chairmen of the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee.
