Toyota Motor Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 amounted to ¥104.05 per share, an increase of 44.2% from ¥72.15 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥328.84 billion, an increase of 43.8% from ¥228.64 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 4.6% from 3.5% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 8.4% year over year to ¥7.119 trillion from ¥6.569 trillion, and total operating expenses increased 5.7% from the prior-year period to ¥6.483 trillion from ¥6.133 trillion.
Reported net income rose 50.3% from the prior-year period to ¥446.43 billion, or ¥141.26 per share, from ¥297.02 billion, or ¥93.73 per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥591.03 per share. EPS rose from ¥491.97 in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥1.868 trillion, a rise from ¥1.560 trillion in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue rose from the prior-year period to ¥27.235 trillion from ¥25.692 trillion, and total operating expenses grew year over year to ¥24.484 trillion from ¥23.400 trillion.
The company said reported net income rose on an annual basis to ¥2.173 trillion, or ¥687.66 per share, in the full year, from ¥1.823 trillion, or ¥574.92 per share.
