Comcast launches Xfinity digital security service

Comcast Corp. on Jan. 8 launched Xfinity xFi Advanced Security, an artificial intelligence-powered service, which monitors and alerts customers of online activity and threats to connected devices.

The service uses AI and machine learning to monitor and analyze Wi-Fi traffic and automatically blocks identified suspicious activity in real time. It also informs customers of blocked threats and provides instructions on how to secure affected devices, according to a Jan. 8 news release.

The xFi Advanced Security protects all devices that are connected to the Xfinity Advanced Gateway, the company said.

The service, which is available to Comcast customers who rent an xFi Gateway, costs $5.99 per month. It is also available as part of a package in some markets. Customers can also add it directly from the xFi app.
