The School Employees Retirement System of Ohio set aside $100 million for its opportunistic and real assets investment portfolios, IPE Real Assets reported.
The pension fund plans to invest $50 million each into the Barings Asset-Based Income Fund and the $1.5 billion Almanac Realty Securities VIII LP fund, the publication noted, citing a meeting document.
The Barings fund will be investing in a variety of assets, including infrastructure and natural resources such as agriculture and timberland.
Almanac's investments are concentrated in companies that own real estate in the U.S., the publication added.
