Grupo Bimbo SAB de CV-owned Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc. is voluntarily recalling a line of cookies due to the potential presence of visible, blue plastic pieces in the individual packaging pouch, according to an Aug. 1 release.
The recall covers five-pack packages of Entenmann's Little Bites Soft Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies with best-by dates of Aug. 31 and Sept. 7 and with UPC code 7203002378.
The products were distributed to retail outlets across 37 U.S. states, including Walmart Inc. stores.
The recall was triggered after consumers reported finding visible, blue plastic pieces on or packaged with the product.
Bimbo Bakeries noted that the plastic is not baked into the product since it was introduced during the packaging process. However, the company still warned that consumption of the plastic pieces may result in a choking hazard.
The manufacturer said no Little Bites Muffins or other Entenmann's brand products are affected in the recall.
