Walgreens to take minority stake in beauty products retailer Birchbox

Pharmacy store chain Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. will buy a minority equity interest in New York-based beauty products retailer Birchbox Inc.

Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed by the companies.

Walgreens will also start selling Birchbox beauty products at some of its locations.

Birchbox will have dedicated space inside the Walgreens outlets to sell skincare, hair and makeup products from more than 40 brands. Initially, 11 Walgreens stores will launch Birchbox sections on a pilot program from December through early 2019.

Birchbox, launched in 2010, also offers monthly subscriptions services for personalized samples of makeup, hair and skin products. The samples are up for home delivery.
