RBS, NatWest websites down for hours due to technical glitch

Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC and unit National Westminster Bank PLC suffered another technical glitch that caused both banks' websites to be offline and inaccessible for several hours Aug. 27, The Guardian reported the same day.

A spokesperson for the two lenders told the newspaper that they were working on a solution and that customers are still able to access online banking via direct web links.

The spokesperson added that customers could turn to other services such as its mobile app, ATMs, phone banking or branches for their needs until the issue is resolved, the report said.

RBS did not disclose what had caused the glitch. NatWest's website was down for nine hours and RBS' for seven, according to a BBC report.
