Burrito joint Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. added drive-thru lanes to a number of its new stores, but customers would have to order in advance to get food through them, CNBC reported May 24, citing Chipotle Chief Digital and Information Officer Curt Garner.
According to the report, customers need to place their orders through an online form or Chipotle's mobile app before going to the drive-thru lane. Once an order has been placed, the customer will receive a pick-up time for them to claim their food.
Chipotle reportedly has five of these drive-thru lanes in the U.S., with two stores in Ohio and one store each in Tennessee, Texas and Massachusetts. A sixth location will open in Virginia by the end of the year, CNBC said, citing a source familiar with the matter.
