Amazon picks up Julian Fellowes period drama

Amazon.comInc. is adding The Weinstein Co.'s period drama "JulianFellowes Presents Doctor Thorne" to its original series lineup.

The series will premiere on Prime Video in the U.S. on May20. It is executive produced and written by Julian Fellowes, thecreator of "Downton Abbey," and directed by Niall MacCormick. Theshow stars Tom Hollander of "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" asDoctor Thorne, Ian McShane of "Ray Donovan" as Sir Roger Scatcherd,and Alison Brie of "Mad Men" as Miss Martha Dunstable.

The Weinstein Co. picked up the North American rights to theseries from Hat Trick International in 2015. Bob and Harvey Weinstein, HatTrick's Mark Redhead, Christopher Kelly and Ted Childs are its co-creators, thecompany said.
