Glencore PLC suspended operations at the South Ore Body shaft, which forms part of its Nkana copper mine in Zambia, following the deaths of two workers in an accident, Reuters reported March 19.
The company did not provide more information on the incident, and it was not immediately clear how much output would be affected during the suspension, according to the news wire.
Glencore unit Mopani Copper Mines Plc serves as the operator of Nkana.
In February, Mopani suspended operations at the Mindola north shaft, also part of Nkana, after three workers were killed in a fire.
