Dominion starts service on Transco-to-Charleston pipeline project

Dominion Energy Inc. placed the $119 million Transco-to-Charleston natural gas pipeline project into service for South Carolina customers.

On March 1, Dominion Energy Carolina Gas Transmission LLC announced the project was in service, bringing 80,000 Dth/d of firm transportation service to customers in Charleston, Dillon, Lexington and Marlboro counties in South Carolina. An estimated 94% of the project's gas transportation capacity will serve South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. and its customers. The remaining capacity will serve other industrial businesses in the state.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the project in a certificate order Feb. 2, 2017, and authorized construction activities March 24, 2017.

The project includes about 60 miles of new 4-inch-diameter and 12-inch-diameter pipeline, a new compressor station in Dorchester County, S.C., and modifications to a compressor station in Spartanburg County, S.C. (FERC docket CP16-98)
