E.ON secures over $200M in tax equity financing to repower 2 Texas wind farms

E.ON SE secured over $200 million in tax equity financing for repowering the Panther Creek I and Panther Creek II wind farms in Texas.

The repowering of the wind projects, which have a combined capacity of 258 MW, involves replacing and installing new drive trains and upgrading 172 GE 1.5-MW wind turbines with longer rotors, according to a Sept. 24 company news release. GE Energy Financial Services underwrote and committed a portion of the tax equity.

The project is scheduled to reach commercial operation in December.

Originally completed in 2008, the two wind projects are part of E.ON's Panther Creek cluster in Howard, Glasscock and Sterling counties in Texas. The combined cluster produces nearly 460 MW of wind energy.
