The Program Guide's global edition highlights recent programming announcements from various networks and online video platforms around the world.
On TV
* Banijay Group SAS unit Banijay Rights Ltd. and U.K.'s Proper Content have teamed up to develop and produce series for the U.K. and international markets. The companies have begun collaboration for titles, "Suicidal: In Our Own Words" and "How You Can Help Stop Suicide," which will both air on Viacom Inc.'s Channel 5 (UK) as well as "The School That Tried To End Racism," which will air on Channel 4 (UK).
* BBC Studios Ltd. has been recommissioned to produce new seasons of hit crime dramas "Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators" and "Father Brown." The 10-part eighth season of "Father Brown" will be broadcast in 2020 on BBC One (UK) Daytime. A ninth season, also with 10 episodes, has been ordered as well, to air in 2021. "Shakespeare and Hathaway: Private Investigators" gets a 10-part third season in 2020 and a fourth season of the same length in 2021.
* HBO (US) renewed the comedy series "The Righteous Gemstones" for a second season. The show tells the story of a televangelist family with a tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work.
* ITV PLC has commissioned a three-part psychological thriller series "Too Close" produced by Snowed-In Productions, in association with All3media International Ltd.
Online
* Apple Inc. unveiled its Apple TV+ subscription streaming service that will launch Nov. 1 for $4.99 per month. Apple TV+ will be available in over 100 countries with a slate of original series, including "The Morning Show," starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Reese Witherspoon, that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production of a morning TV show; "Dickinson," which examines the life of American poet Emily Dickinson with a modern spin; and "See," with actor Jason Momoa telling the story of a group of people trying to survive in a world where humans have lost sight.
* Nordic Entertainment Group AB said that it commissioned a season two of thriller series "The Lawyer." The series is currently filming, and will premiere on Viaplay across the Nordic region in 2020.
* Netflix Inc. commissioned Lightbox Entertainment for the feature documentary "Tell Me Who I Am," TBI Vision reported. The original content will premiere at BFI London Film Festival and will launch on the streaming platform on Oct. 18.
* In other Netflix news, the streaming giant announced that its new Polish original series, "The Woods," will premiere in 2020. The upcoming mystery series is a six-part adaptation of Harlan Coben's bestselling thriller of the same name.
* Facebook Inc. signed partnerships with European publishers to create more content for its video platform Watch. The social media company now has agreements with Germany's Axel Springer SE, Hubert Burda Media and Gruner + Jahr AG & Co. KG; France's Brut, Le Monde and BFM TV; and Sweden's Expressen.
* Netflix unveiled a slew of new South Korean originals, including supernatural action drama "The School Nurse Files" and stand-up comedy "Park Narae: Glamor Warning." Netflix also announced the returning seasons of "Kingdom S2" and unscripted variety show "Busted S2."
