Industrial production in France rose more than expected in July as output rebounded in machinery and equipment goods and accelerated in transport equipment and mining and quarrying, energy and water supply.
Total industrial output increased by 0.7% in July, higher than the Econoday consensus estimate of 0.2% and following an upwardly revised increase of 0.7% in June, the country's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies said.
Output in the manufacturing industry increased by 0.5% month over month in July after rising by 0.7% in June. Machinery and equipment goods output bounced back, increasing by 2.3% in July after falling by 1.5% in June, while output in manufacturing of transport equipment accelerated to 3.5% from 1.9%.
On a year-over-year basis, total industrial output increased by 1.0% and manufacturing output was up 1.1%.
